WIAA softball regional pairings announced

The pairings for the 2009's WIAA regional softball tournaments were recently announced. Three Pierce County clubs will be playing first round games next Thursday.
In Division 2, Ellsworth, a No. 5 seed will be at No. 4 seed Baldwin-Woodville. The winner takes on No. 1 seeded Bloomer on May 26.
The high seed always hosts throughout the regional tournament.
In Division 3, No. 7 Prescott received the No. 1 seed for their regional and received a first round bye. In the same regional, Spring Valley-Plum City, the No. 3 seed hosts No. 6 seed Whitehall on May 19. The winner faces No. 2 seed Arcadia.
Prescott will face the winner of the Mondovi/Osseo-Fairchild contest, a 4-5 seed game.
In Division 4, Elmwood is in arguably the toughest regional in the state, which includes both defending state champion Chippewa Falls McDonell and state Division 4 runner-up Thorp. No. 3 seed Eau Claire Immanuel Lutheran also has a formidable team. The Raiders are the No. 4 team and hosts No. 5 Augusta in the first round. The winner faces No. 1 seeded Thorp on May 26.
