Plum City clinches third straight D-SC Small title

Plum City 22-12 thrashing of Glenwood City along with Boyceville's win over Pepin clinches the Blue Devils' third straight Dunn-St. Croix Conference Small Division title.

GLENWOOD CITY - The boys were back and they made a big impact for the Plum City High School baseball team.

Several senior starters were back from the school's venerable senior class trip and they lifted PC to 22-10 bashing that clinched a share of the Dunn-St. Croix Small Division title, PC's third straight.

Every Blue Devils starter had a hit and reached base at least twice as Plum City

The 17-hit attack came as a surprise to head coach Chase Nelson.

"I was kind of nervous," Nelson said to the Red Wing Republican-Eagle. "It was their first game back and we hadn’t been able to practice because of a JV game and the rain."

The Blue Devils showed early that there was nothing to worry about, scoring three runs in the first and three more in the second.

Senior Dana Derricks was 4-for-5 with six RBI. He hit a two-run home run in the second and a bases-clearing double in the fourth. Andy Heath, another senior, hit a grand slam in the same inning.
