The long search for a new football coach for Ellsworth High School is over. John Groh was named the Panthers new gridiron head.

Groh succeeds long-time head coach Conrad Bekkum who retired earlier this year. He had served as an assistant on Bekkum's staff in the late 1990s and early this decade. Recently he has been coaching middle school football and wrestling at Ellsworth Middle School where he currently teaches.

Groh is an EHS alumn and was a star athlete in high school. He placed sixth in the state wrestling meet in 1991.

Pettersen will succeed Cory Brathol as head boys' basketball coach. He becomes the Panthers fourth head coach since 2001.

Both men will have their work cut out for them. The football team was 0-9 last season and hasn't won in 12 games while the boys' basketball team hasn't had a winning season since 2000.
