Ellsworth DQ to help kids Aug. 13

When is a summertime blizzard cause for cheers, not tears? When it’s got nothing to do with snowy weather, and everything to do with helping local children who have disabilities.

When is a summertime blizzard cause for cheers, not tears?

When it’s got nothing to do with snowy weather, and everything to do with helping local children who have disabilities.

On Thursday, Aug. 13, the Dairy Queen location at 467 W. Main St. in Ellsworth will host the fourth annual North American Miracle Treat Day. The day-long event benefits Gillette Children’s Specialty Healthcare through Children’s Miracle Network.

On Miracle Treat Day, participating Dairy Queen locations throughout North America serve up a variety of tasty Blizzard treats, including the August Blizzard of the Month, Girl Scouts Thin Mint Cookie. Stores donate $1 or more per Blizzard treat sold to CMN, a nonprofit organization dedicated to saving and improving the lives of children by raising funds for children’s hospitals.

All funds raised in Minnesota and Western Wisconsin benefit Gillette. Last year, Gillette provided care for more than 21,000 children, including 195 from Pierce County. Last year on the special day, participating Dairy Queens throughout Minnesota and Western Wisconsin raised more than $200,000 for Gillette, with proceeds helping children in Minnesota and Wisconsin communities.
