Parade to be staged by EFD Aug. 16
The Ellsworth Fire Department’s annual community parade will be held in the village Sunday, Aug. 16.
Registration will begin at 11 a.m., with units lining up near the former junior high school at S. Grant and Woodworth streets. Organizer Tom Bjork said the parade will begin at 1 p.m., heading north on Grant Street and continuing to the entrance to The Highlands subdivision on Ellsworth’s north side.
Around 100 units participated in last year’s parade, Bjork said. Invitations and parade forms were sent earlier, and organizers had received responses for approximately 50 units this year. Each will be given a number.
“People’s Choice Awards” will go to the top three units, he said. A panel of judges, comprised by wives of some of the fire department members, will determine the winners. The honorees will be announced from a station to be set up near Hill Funeral Home.
Participants will be able to register the day of the parade. For more information, call Bjork at 273-1425.
