Sex offender to be released in Dunn County

A convicted sex offender will be released next week in Dunn County.

Dunn County Sheriff Dennis Smith announced Monday that a convicted sex offender will be released next week.

Jacob Hasart, 30, will be released from the Wisconsin Department of Corrections next Tuesday (Aug. 19) and will not be on supervision. He was sentenced in 2002 to third degree sexual assault.

Hasart is described as white, 5 feet-7 inches, and weighing 240 pounds. He has a shaved head with blue eyes and a pierced left ear. He will be residing with his mother in the Town of Elk Mound at E6952 950th St.

Smith said other key facts about Hasart are:

He may move to another address after release. He will likely stay in or near Elk Mound or Eau Claire since that is where most of his history has taken place.

Has told people that he is or was a fire fighter or law enforcement officer and on at least one occasion was able to obtain fire equipment to give credibility to his story of being a fire fighter. He may acquire and wear fire fighter T-shirts or law enforcement T-shirts to support his claims.

Will also tell people that he was a “Gulf War soldier.”

Will use chat rooms and social networks, such as My Space or HostlerLive.com to meet and get to know young females. He will use the cover of being a firefighter, law enforcement officer or a Gulf soldier to gain their trust.

Has befriended teenage girls in the past by purchasing them alcohol and may threaten them with harm.

Described as harassing and obnoxious.

Will likely use computers in public settings, such as a library, because he may not own one.

Smith also stressed that Hasart is not wanted by police at this time and that citizen abuse that will threaten, intimidate or harass Hasart will not be tolerated.
