A Minnesota man will spend the next 12 years in prison after pleading guilty to second degree sexual assault of a child.
Bruce J. Joelson, 43, will also serve 10 years on extended supervision upon his release. The sentence came down Tuesday in Pierce County Circuit Court.
“You did this to yourself,” Pepin/Buffalo Circuit Court Judge James Duvall said, addressing Joelson. “You’re 100 percent responsible for what went on. All the offenses involved children and you violated their trust.
“Confinement is needed to protect the public.”
Charges
Joelson was initially charged last November with two counts of sexual assault of a child under 13 and one count of sexual assault of a child under 16. He pled guilty to the second degree sexual assault in July as part of an agreement.
In 2006, the first victim told her story to Pierce County Sheriff’s Department investigators and county social workers.
