The River Falls resident started Aug. 27 by having drinks with a few friends at a River Falls bar. By lunchtime, he was sitting in a Pierce County Jail, arrested on charges of sexual assault.

A day later, he was officially charged in Pierce County Circuit Court with three counts of third degree sexual assault, a Class G felony bringing a maximum penalty of $25,000 and/or 10 years prison, if found guilty. As of Friday, his next court appearance hadn’t yet been scheduled.

According to the criminal complaint, the 21-year-old victim is alleging she frequented various bars in the City of River Falls the previous night with friends and that, at one of the stops, she met up with a friend and a friend of his, later identified as Yates.

Throughout all their stops, the victim admitted to having several drinks and striking up a conversation with Yates. The victim told River Falls police it was decided she would takes Yates to Boomer’s Bar, which is located on Main Street, where she would buy him a shot for his 21st birthday.
