DIAMOND BLUFF—A serene spot along the Mississippi River has been transformed into a public park through input by some dedicated local volunteers.

The new Sea Wing Park, across from Diamond Bluff’s town hall, will be celebrated during a dedication and benefactor recognition Thursday, Sept. 24, from 3 to 5 p.m. at the site. Speakers’ remarks will be made at 4 p.m. Besides the volunteers and others who did the work, along with the benefactors and the public, members of the Great River Road Commission and the Pierce County Board are invited.

Approximately $150,000 worth of improvements was done at the location since the project began in 2003, according to Fred Ottem of the volunteer group. He was joined there Wednesday by fellow volunteers John Norquist and Fred Haverlandt, local park committee chair.
