Panthers netters sweep week's worth of MBC dual meets

Ellsworth High School's girls' tennis team won a pair of MBC dual meets this week.

The 4-3 wins over both Amery and Unity-Luck put EHS over the .500 mark in Middle Border Conference play at 3-2. Ellsworth is 3-4 overall.

In both duals, EHS was able to secure three singles wins plus a doubles win.

Singles winners against Amery were Nikki Marson, Claire Hines and Tiffany Weiss while against Unity-Luck they were Hines, Weiss and Sabine Rudolph.

Winning their doubles match in the Amery meet was the No. 1 duo of Samantha Engnes and Alex Bartlett while the No. 3 team of Kassi Howe and Jenny Webster won against Unity-Luck.

The Unity-Luck meet was Ellsworth's first home dual meet this season. The Panthers will play at home again Monday vs. Lake City, Minn., one of the top Class A teams in the state of Minnesota.

Next week the Panthers will be at Baldwin-Woodville Tuesday and at Durand Thursday to close-up the regular season.
