Panther netters lose to Lake City, rained out at B-W

Ellsworth High School's tennis team has plenty of matches this week, which started Monday at home vs. Lake City, Minn.

The Tigers beat the Panthers 5-1 at Summit Park in Ellsworth. Claire Hines had EHS' only win at No. 3 singles as she won a third-set tie-breaker. The No. 3 doubles team of Kassi Howe and Jen Webster also went to a third-set tie-breaker and 7-4 before darkness set in and the match was called a draw.

The Panthers' dual meet at Baldwin-Woodville Tuesday was rained out. It will be made up Monday in Baldwin at 4 p.m.

Ellsworth, 3-5 overall and 3-2 in the MBC, will also be in action Thursday at Durand staring at 4:15 p.m. and will compete in the Cannon Falls, Minn. Invitational Saturday.

The MBC Meet is next Tuesday in Durand beginning at 9 a.m.
