MAIDEN ROCK--When Kathy McNay first laid eyes on the Maiden Rock Creamery, her mind drifted toward the past.
“It had a pavilion look that reminded me of the place in Indiana where my mom and dad met,” she said. In addition, when she found out about the building’s history in association with Lake Pepin, she fell in love with it even more.
McNay finally became owner in 2002. However, the building was in need of heavy renovations, which took five years to complete. Her visions became reality in 2007, with McNay’s wine and coffee shop on the top floor and two large meetings rooms on the bottom which can be used for special events.
“I feel certain that my mom and dad would love a building like this,” she said last week.
