A River Falls man was charged earlier this month with two counts of first degree sexual assault of a child in Pierce County Circuit Court.
Yasser Elgez, 37, 1450 S. Wasson Lane, faces a maximum penalty of 60 years prison on each count if found guilty. He is currently in the Pierce County Jail on a $10,000 cash bond. His next court appearance is a preliminary hearing 8:30 a.m. Oct. 15.
According to the criminal complaint, River Falls police were notified of the alleged assault on Sept. 29 when the victim’s mother reported the case to an officer. The victim, a nine-year-old girl, told the story to her best friend, who told her mother, who then notified the victim’s mother.
The victim was then interviewed by a Pierce County social worker. She said that sometime this summer, Elgez told the victim to go into her bedroom and lay down on her bed. Elgez then inappropriately touched her and fondled her, the victim said.
