A punch has landed a Roberts man in trouble, especially when the punch was directed toward a police officer.

Kyle D. Drinkwine, 25, was charged with attempted battery of a police officer along with obstruction in Pierce County Circuit Court Thursday. He is scheduled to make his initial court appearance 10 a.m. Nov. 30.

According to the criminal complaint, River Falls police officer Ryan Miller wrote in his report that around 2:10 a.m. Sept. 15, he noticed a group of individuals starting to make some noise outside of Shooter’s. Miller stayed in his car as three of the individuals starting walking east down Elm St. and turning north into the alley behind Boomer’s.

Miller eventually caught up to the individuals and immediately recognized one of them as Drinkwine. When Miller asked for identification, Drinkwine said he didn’t have any and gave a name of Matthew Drinkwine when asked for one.
