Minneapolis, MN (Sports Network) - Minnesota Timberwolves forward Kevin Love will undergo surgery to repair a fractured hand on Tuesday.

Love fractured the fourth metacarpal in his left hand during Minnesota's 94-90 loss to the Chicago Bulls in preseason action Friday. The injury occurred late in the third quarter when Love's non-shooting hand banged against teammate Oleksiy Pecherov's elbow during a rebound attempt following a foul shot.

Love will travel east to have the procedure done at New York City's Hospital for Special Surgery.

The 6-foot-10, 260-pound UCLA product averaged 11.1 points and 9.1 rebounds in 81 games (37 starts) last year. He also set a club rookie mark last season with 734 rebounds.
