Bowen in running for Delaware’s top teacher

SPRING VALLEY—Amy Tierney Bowen, a Spring Valley High School graduate, is in the running for State Teacher of the Year in Delaware.

SPRING VALLEY—Amy Tierney Bowen, a Spring Valley High School graduate, is in the running for State Teacher of the Year in Delaware.

Bowen is a 1993 SVHS grad and a graduate of UW-Stout in Menomonie in 1998.

She is currently a nominee for the Delaware honor, chosen from over 8,000 teachers in that state.

Twenty of Delaware’s best educators representing each school district and several charter schools in the state have been nominated for the distinction. The 19 women and one man were chosen through a nomination process from more than 8,800 Delaware teachers statewide.

The announcement of the 2010 Teacher of the Year will be made by Gov. Jack Markell next Tuesday at the Dover Downs Hotel and Casino in Dover.
