Macks end Plum City grids season, Adler announced retirement

Saturday's WIAA Division 7 prep football Level 2 playoff game was the final game for the Plum City's 2009 season and the final game of Pete Adler's coaching career.

CHIPPEWA FALLS - Saturday's WIAA Division 7 prep football Level 2 playoff game was the final game for the Plum City's 2009 season and the final game of Pete Adler's coaching career.

Adler, Plum City's head coach, announced that he would step down as head coach after his final game which came in 22-0 defeat to Chippewa Falls McDonell at Dorais Field.

No. 9 ranked McDonell scored late in the second quarter off a two-yard run by running back Alex Heiss, who was back from sitting out due to an injury. PC could have tied the score just before halftime but had a long touchdown pass wiped out due to a penalty.

The Macks, 8-3 overall, scored again early in the second half after a big punt return set-up a short touchdown drie capped off by Heiss' three-yard run.

Blue Devils quarterback Shawn Ingli was knocked out of the ballgame due to an injury. No. 5 Plum City moved the ball between the 20 yards lines but could not cap any of their drives with a score.

The Devils finish the season at 10-1 overall.
