All-MBC volleyball team includes Krech and Melstrom

Prescott's Kallie Krech and Ellsworth's Carlie Melstrom made the All Middle Border Conference volleyball team

ierce County will have two representatives on the 2009 All-Middle Border Conference volleyball team

Seniors Carlie Melstrom of Ellsworth and Kallie Krech of Prescott were two of 14 players chosen for the team.

Melstrom was one of the top setters the league as she led the way in assists while Krech was a top hitter for the Cardinals. She received honorable mention as a junior.

Four players from league champ New Richmond made the team, seniors Kim Bethke, Breanna Getschel, Kendra Mitchell and Kristy Martinson. Three players were chosen from Osceola and they were juniors Paige Garriga and Lisa Rydeen along with senior Katie Zais. Somerset put two on the all-conference team, seniors Lauren Westerdahl and Grace Hartman.

Also making the team were Amery senior Lisa Clark, Baldwin-Woodville junior Erin Booth and Durand senior Sam Schroeder.

Garriga is the only player on this year’s All-MBC squad who made the team last season. Booth, Zais and Rydeen all received honorable mention last season.

Two EHS players and one from PHS received honorable mention. From Ellsworth were juniors Rachel Anderson and Kayla Christopherson and from Prescott, senior Katie Magee.
