Former Badger Robbie Earl scores first two NHL goals for Wild
Minnesota Sports - Former UW hockey all-star Robbie Earl scores his first two NHL goals for the Minnesota Wild in their game at Carolina last weekend.
RALEIGH, N.C. — Robert Earl scored the first two NHL goals of his career, during the Minnesota Wild's 5-4 loss at Carolina Sunday.
Earl was the 2006 Frozen Four MVP in leading the University of Wisconsin to its sixth national championship.
Earl was called up from the Wild's farm club in Houston last week and played in the Wild's game at Washington. In that game he started with the Wild's fourth line and moved to the first line by the time the Wild plays in Carolina.
Jussi Jokinen scored the winning goal in the shootout as the Hurricanes ended a 14-game winless streak.
John Scott added his first career goal and Antti Miettinen also scored for the Wild. Minnesota has never won in Carolina and is 2-10-1 on the road this season.
