Badgers top Arizona in Maui Classic

MAUI, Hawaii - The Wisconsin men’s basketball team beat Arizona 65-to-61 overnight in their first game at the Maui Invitational in Hawaii.
The Badgers scored four straight points to break a 55-all tie in the closing minutes, and hung on from there. Both teams only shot 36-percent, and Wisconsin was just 4-of-18 from three-point range. But the Badgers committed just eight turnovers to 14 for the Wildcats. The two teams combined for 55 fouls, with Arizona committing 30.
Senior Trevon Hughes scored 24 points for Wisconsin, which improved to 3-and-0. Freshman forward Derrick Williams led Arizona with 25 points. He made 13-of-21 from the free throw line, as the Wildcats fell to 2-and-1.
The Badgers will play Gonzaga tonight in the semi-finals of the Maui tournament. Gonzaga is 3-and-1 after beating Colorado 76-to-72 yesterday. Tonight’s contest starts at 8:30.
