MILWAUKEE - The Milwaukee Brewers have signed pitcher Chris Capuano to a minor-league contract, with a chance to make the big league club at spring training.
It’s been two years since he pitched for the Brew Crew. Capuano tore a ligament in his left throwing elbow at spring training in 2008. And after two Tommy John elbow reconstructive surgeries, Capuano was limited to nine innings last summer with the Brewers’ rookie league team in Helena. He gave up four runs in that stint, with eight hits, a pair of walks, and eight strikeouts.
Capuano won 18 games for Milwaukee in 2005, and he was a National League All-Star the following year. In 2007, his last year with Milwaukee, Capuano slipped to 5-and-12.
