For the first time in its 100-year history, the Ellsworth Co-op Creamery has added land to its plant property in east end.
The transaction for the creamery to purchase a bit less than two acres from the adjacent site of the former Deiss and Nugent mill was finalized during a creamery board meeting Tuesday. CEO and General Manager Paul Bauer of the creamery said the parcel is west of the plant and adjoins its present approximately four acres for a 50 percent addition.
“We’re buying it for future expansion,” Bauer said.
