Sunday was a cause for celebration at Family Dollar in Ellsworth.
The business, which opened in 1995 in a shopping center in the village’s midway district, held a re-grand opening that day to celebrate the store’s new expansion.
“We are very pleased to be a part of the Ellsworth community,” said Josh Braverman, public relations manager for Family Dollar. “And proud to offer the great products we have.”
The first Family Dollar store was opened in 1959 in Charlotte, N.C., according to its web site. The store’s objective was to sell basic goods for home and family needs at prices anyone can afford. Refinements have been made over the years, including low overhead and an emphasis on cash-and-carry, which helped make Family Dollar a leading Fortune 400 company.
A typical Family Dollar offers products in the following areas: apparel, home, gift ideas, groceries, household, toys, electronics, paper, gift sets, health and beauty, and holiday accessories.
