Wild rallies to defeat Nashville in overtime thriller 5-4

Minnesota Sports - Andrew Ebbett scored his first career game-winning goal with 3:34 left in overtime, LW Guillaume Latendresse scored and set up Ebbett’s goal, and C Mikko Koivu had a goal and an assist, as the Minnesota Wild rallied for a 5-4 victory over the Nashville Predators in front of 18,071 at Xcel Energy Center Wednesday.

PAUL - Andrew Ebbett scored his first career game-winning goal with 3:34 left in overtime, LW Guillaume Latendresse scored and set up Ebbett’s goal, and C Mikko Koivu had a goal and an assist, as the Minnesota Wild rallied for a 5-4 victory over the Nashville Predators in front of 18,071 at Xcel Energy Center Wednesday.

C Kyle Brodziak and LW Andrew Brunette recorded two assists each, RW Antti Miettinen and RW Cal Clutterbuck netted a goal apiece and G Niklas Backstrom earned a team-record 66th all-time home win for Minnesota, which has points in five straight games (4-0-1) for the first time since the opening month of the 2008-09 season. The Wild plays host to Anaheim on Friday at 7 p.m.

C Andrew Ebbett notched his second goal in four games with the Wild since being acquired on waivers from Chicago. It marked Ebbett’s 11th career goal and his first game-winner.

The Wild has won three straight games for the first time since the final three games of the 2008-09 season. Minnesota is 4-0-1 in its last five, its first time picking up points in five straight games since a 6-0-1 start to 2008-09.
