Ellsworth Invitational on tap for Saturday

he high school wrestling season is already underway and one of the biggest early season tournaments is the Ellsworth Invitational, which will be held Saturday at Ellsworth High School starting at 10 a.m.
Three top ranked team will be in the field, including the No. 1 ranked and defending Division 2 state champion hosts, the Ellsworth High School Panthers. Also there will be top-ranked Boyceville and Cadott from Division 3. Also in the field are local teams like Prescott, Durand, River Falls along with Unity, Medford and St. Croix Falls.
The meet also features some of the top individual wrestlers in the state, like state runner ups Sam Huppert and D.J. Yarwood of Ellsworth along with Cadott's Mike Sonnentag and Josiah Yeager, Unity's Dennis McKinney, St. Croix Falls' Joe Raygor, River Falls' Logan Cudd and a powerful line-up from Boyceville that provide a stiff challenge to the Panthers for the team title they won a year ago, including defending invite champion Matt Wyss along with Sam Hayes and Jason Stuart.
Other defending champion returning for this year's meet are Sonnentag, McKinney, Raygor, Prescott's Josh Farr, Roy Munroe of Cadott.
