INDIANAPOLIS - Milwaukee Brewers general manager Doug Melvin came to the winter meetings in Indianapolis this week looking for pitching. The Brewers staff buried the team last season.
Early reports indicate Milwaukee will be a big player in the bidding for veteran left hander Randy Wolf.
Pitching for Los Angeles last season, Wolf was 11-7 with a strong 3-point-23 earned run average. He reportedly wants a multi-year deal.
John Lackey is considered to be the best free agent starter available, but he might be too pricey for Milwaukee. Wolf is 33 years old and has had some injury problems in his career. He pitched more than 214 innings last season.
