GRAND FORKS, N.D. - The Wisconsin men’s hockey team will play at North Dakota tonight and tomorrow night. The Badgers are a game up on the Fighting Sioux in the WCHA. Wisconsin is 7-4-and-1, while North Dakota is 6-5-and-1 in league play.
The Badgers also have 10 overall victories to North Dakota’s nine. But they lost goal-tender Brett Bennett indefinitely, after he injured his left shoulder at practice this week. That means Scott Gudmandson will be the full-time goalie.
He and Bennett have split the job until now. Gudmandson has a .933 save percentage and a one-point-five-seven goals-against-average. Freshman Mitch Thompson will be his back-up.
North Dakota has also had injury problems. Senior defenseman Chay Genoway is expected to miss the Wisconsin series after being out four games with a concussion. Senior center Chris VandeVelde has been out since getting an undisclosed injury in the Sioux’s opener against Minnesota-Duluth.
