PLUM CITY - A key early-season Dunn-St. Croix Conference boys' baksetball game went to Colfax as they routed Plum City 89-63 Thursday, handing the Blue Devils their first loss.

Colfax was tapped as a preseason favorite in the Dunn-St. Croix Conference and they showed why Thursday. Junior Tom Wahl scored 18 points to lead six Colfax players in double figures as the Vikings (4-0 overall, 3-0 conference) won on the road.

The Vikings made their most of transition opportunities. Even their 6-foot-3 posts got in on the act, according to Plum City coach Wayne Radle.

“They got the rebound and were gone,” Radle said. “A lot of the points they got on us were layups. We didn’t get back fast enough.”

Sophomore Chase Luebker led the Blue Devils with 26 points. Alex Gilles, a junior, was the only other Plum City player in double figures. He scored 10 points and added six assists.
