River Falls outscored Ellsworth High School’s girls’ basketball team 11-6 in the overtime session to beat the Panthers 47-42 Tuesday evening.
River Falls outscored Ellsworth High School’s girls’ basketball team 11-6 in the overtime session to beat the Panthers 47-42 Tuesday evening.
Ellsworth took the early lead in the extra session on a Rachel Anderson lay-up after a pass from Campbell. She also hit a three-pointer to tie the contest again at 42-42 with 1:35 remaining. But River Falls hit its free-throws in the final minute and forced a key Ellsworth turnover that clinched the win.
The Wildcats’ Amiee Dusek led all scorers with 15 points. She was a perfect 6-for-6 from the line and her team went 14-for-19 compared to the Panthers’ 8-for-15 showing.
Ellsworth had three players in double figures led by Campbell’s 13 points, 11 points for Taylor Murphy and 10 points for Kuhl. The Panthers hit four three-pointers in the ballgame.
Ellsworth drops back to the .500 mark at 2-2 and play at Christ’s Household of Faith school in St. Paul Thursday. River Falls improves to 2-3 overall.
