Three Badger pucksters chosen for U.S. junior team

- Three Wisconsin men’s hockey players have been named to the U.S. team for the upcoming World Junior Championship.

MADISON - Three Wisconsin men’s hockey players have been named to the U.S. team for the upcoming World Junior Championship.

Sophomore forward Derek Stepan, sophomore defenseman Jake Gardiner, and freshman defenseman John Ramage were among 22 players named to the final U.S. squad yesterday.

The tournament begins Saturday, and it runs through January fifth in Saskatoon and Regina Canada. The Americans’ first game will be against Slovakia on Saturday. The Wisconsin players will miss their games in the Badger Hockey Showdown on January 2-3, and an exhibition game against the U.S. Under-18 squad.
