CHICAGO - The Minnesota Vikings will not be able to clinch a first-round playoff bye tonight if they beat the Bears in Chicago.

The 11-3 Vikings will need Philadelphia to lose to Dallas next Sunday, while winning at least one of their remaining two games. If Minnesota runs the table, they can still clinch home field advantage throughout the playoffs if New Orleans loses to Carolina next Sunday. At the very least, the Vikings have clinched a home game in the Wild Card round by virtue of their N-C North Division title.

Meanwhile, the Vikes are not necessarily a lock to beat the 5-and-9 Bears tonight. Brett Favre is 1-and-2 in his last three visits to Chicago – all in December. And both losses came when the temperature was below freezing. Today’s high in the Windy City is supposed to be 28. And it’s sure to be colder by tonight’s 7:40 p.m. kickoff.
