MINNEAPOLIS - Minnesota Timberwolves have traded reserve guard Jason Hart to the Phoenix Suns in exchange for forward Alando Tucker and a 2010 second- round draft pick.

This deal comes hours after a reported deal between the Wolves and Hornets fell through. In that trade, Minnesota would have acquired guard Devin Brown, but the trade fell apart sometime last night or this morning.

Tucker, a thrid year player from the University of Wisconsin, averaged less than 4 points per game for the Suns this season, having appeared in only 11 games. Like most of the minor trades David Kahn and the Wolves have pulled off this year, this deal was done mostly for financial purposes. Still, Tucker is likely to see more playing time for Minnesota than Hart, who has played in only one game this season while sitting behind fellow point guards Ramon Sessions and Jonny Flynn on the Wolves' depth chart.

Meanwhile, San Antonio's Richard Jefferson recorded 24 points, including 4-of-7 from behind the arc, as the Spurs beat the Timberwolves 117-99 last night in Texas. Roger Mason also hit 4-of-7 from three en route to 18 points off the bench for San Antonio, which outscored Minnesota in all four quarters. Tim Duncan had 17 points and 10 rebounds for the Spurs, who have won three straight and nine of their last 11 to improve to 18-and-11 overall.

Al Jefferson scored 20 points for the T'wolves, who had won their previous two games. Kevin Love added 18 points and 12 rebounds in defeat.
