MINNEAPOLIS - The Minnesota Vikings earned a first-round playoff bye, after beating the New York Giants 44-to-7 in Minneapolis.
Brett Favre went over four-thousand yards in season passing for the sixth time in his 19-year career. Favre threw four touchdown passes while going 25-of-31 for 316 yards. Favre also tossed 30 T-D passes in a season for an NFL-record ninth time. Sidney Rice caught two of those scores. Adrian Peterson ran for 54 yards and a touchdown for Minnesota, which ended the regular season at 12-4.
The Vikes will host Green Bay, Arizona, or Dallas in the divisional playoff round January 16th-or-17th.
