Three candidates have filed for one seat on the Pierce County Board, triggering a February primary election.
As of press time Tuesday morning, with just hours to go before the filing deadline, two River Falls area seats had no declared candidates.
While all the papers weren’t in yet, it appears there will be races for three other seats. The general election will be held Tuesday, April 6.
The primary will be in District 8, where both Thomas Sitz, N8739 CTH W, River Falls, and Katie Pata, W9252 800th Ave., River Falls, are challenging incumbent John Kucinski. District 8 includes Wards 1 and 2 of the Town of River Falls and Ward 2 of the Town of Martell. Kucinski has represented the district since April 2002.
Both Evan B. Varga, W12152 757th Ave., River Falls, and LeRoy Peterson, W10604 CTH FF, River Falls, are candidates for the District 2 seat now held by Jim Camery, who had not registered for re-election. District 2 includes Wards 1 and 2 of the Town of Clifton and Ward 3 of the City of Prescott.
