UW hockey report: Men beat U.S. junior team, women split with UND

- The University of Wisconsin's women's hockey team split a weekend series with North Dakota while the Badger men won an exhibition game over the gold-medal winning U.S. junior team.

The Wisconsin women's hockey team blanked North Dakota 2-0, splitting the weekend series in chilly Fargo. Wisconsin's record is 13-6-3, including 10-5-1 in WCHA play. Brooke Ammerman scored the only goal the Badgers would need at the 6:07 mark of the first period. It was her 15th of the season. Becca Ruegsegger got the shutout. For the second evening in a row, Jasmine Giles scored a goal in the final seconds. Her score made it 2-0 on her fourth goal of the season. UW lost Friday to the Fighting Sioux 3-1.

Michael Davies and Blake Geoffrion scored two goals apiece as the University of Wisconsin walloped the USA Under-18 hockey team 7-1 in an exhibition game at the Kohl Center Saturday night in Madison. Geoffrion scored twice on power plays and assisted on another goal. Wisconsin out-shot the Under-18 team 34-16. Jordy Murray, Ben Street and John Mitchell had Wisconsin's other goals. The Under-18 team has lost six of its nine games against NCAA Division I opponents.
