Hughes lifts Badgers to big win at Northwestern

EVANSTON, Ill. - The Wisconsin men’s basketball team improved to 4-and-1 in the Big Ten, with a 60-to-50 victory at Northwestern last night.
The Wildcats were up by three with about seven minutes left when Trevon Hughes took over. The senior guard scored 14 points in a row, giving the Badgers a seven-point lead with under three minutes to play.
Jason Bohannon led Wisconsin with 19. Hughes had 16 and a team-high seven rebounds. Sophomore Jordan Taylor had 10 points in place of Jon Leuer, who’s out indefinitely with a broken left wrist. John Shurna had 15 for Northwestern, which scored only two points in the final five-and-a-half minutes.
The Wildcats fell to 1-and-3 in the Big Ten and 12-and-4 overall. The 13th-ranked Badgers improved to 12-and-4 overall, and they evened their road record at 2-and-2. Wisconsin plays at Ohio State on Saturday while NU hosts Purdue.
