MADISON - The Wisconsin men’s basketball team rallied in the final three minutes last night to beat Michigan 54-to-48 at the Kohl Center.
The Badgers never led until Trevon Hughes hit a three-pointer with just over three minutes left. Wisconsin was down twice by 11. But the Wolverines missed 12 of their final 15 shots from the floor, and the Badgers ended the game on a 24-9 run.
Wisconsin only shot 34-percent on the night, but Michigan didn’t do much better at 36-percent. Hughes scored eight of his 20 points in the final four-and-a-half minutes. Back-up guard Rob Wilson scored a career-high 13 as the Badgers took sole possession of second place in the Big Ten, a game-and-a-half behind Michigan State.
DeShawn Sims scored 23 for the Wolverines, who fell to 3-and-3 in the conference and 10-and-8 overall. The 18th-ranked Badgers improved to 5-and-2 in the league and 15-and-4 overall. They’ll host Penn State on Sunday.
