Badger hockey team has big series with No. 1 Denver this weekend

- The Wisconsin men’s hockey team will host top-ranked Denver tonight and tomorrow night

MADISON - The Wisconsin men’s hockey team will host top-ranked Denver tonight and tomorrow night.

The Badgers are ranked third in the country, after splitting a pair at Colorado College last weekend. Wisconsin is 13-6-3 overall, and is fourth in the WCHA with 20 points. Denver is 14-5-3, and is second in the conference with 23 points. Denver goal-tender Mark Cheverie leads the WCHA with five shut-outs, a goals-against-average of one-point-nine-seven, and a save percentage of .932. He also has the league’s top winning percentage at .812.

The Wisconsin women will host Saint Cloud State this afternoon and tomorrow. The seventh-ranked Badgers were swept for the first time last season when they dropped a pair to Minnesota-Duluth last weekend. Saint Cloud is coming off a win-and-a-tie against North Dakota.
