Badger hockey women beat St. Cloud, men tie Denver
Wisconsin Sports- Wisconsin's men's hockey team was unable to hold a 3-2 lead in the third and tied Denver 3-3. The UW women beat St. Cloud State 5-3.
Sophomore Carolyne Prevost had a hat trick, leading the Wisconsin women's hockey team past St. Cloud State 5-3 Friday afternoon. The victory ended a three-game losing streak. Wisconsin used a strong start to improve its record to 14-8-3, including 11-7-1 in the WCHA. The Badgers scored on two of their first six shots. When the Huskies cut the lead to 4-3 late, Prevost's third goal sealed the win. Geena Prough and Mallory Deluce had the other Wisconsin goals. Prevost has now scored at least one point in seven straight games.
A goal from Anthony Maiani with less than two minutes to play earned a tie for Denver in its game against the Wisconsin men's hockey team Friday. Denver had scored the first two goals of the game, but couldn't hold the lead. Blake Geoffrion had two goals for the Badgers. Wisconsin's record is now 13-6-4, including 9-5-3 in the WCHA. Michael Davies had a goal and an assist. Geoffrion's second goal gave the Badgers a 3-2 lead at 8:43 of the final period, but the late score cost Wisconsin the win.
