No. 2 UW men top UMD 5-2, UW women blow lead and lose to OSU
Wisconsin Sports- Wisconsin's No. 2 ranked men's hockey team topped first-place Minnesota-Duluth Friday while the UW women were beaten by Ohio State.
The Wisconsin men's hockey team dominated first-place Minnesota-Duluth Friday, taking a 5-2 decision on the road. The Badgers came into the game two points behind Duluth. Aaron Bendickson had a goal and two assists to lead Wisconsin. UW out-shot the Bulldogs 52-19 while improving their record to 15-6-4, including 11-5-3 in the WCHA. The two teams were tied at two apiece when Brendan Smith put Wisconsin up to stay. Blake Geoffrion also had a goal in the victory.
After leading a tight game most of the way, the Wisconsin women's hockey team gave up two late scores to Ohio State and lost 5-4 Friday. The Badgers were out-shot 48-31 -- only the second time that has happened this season. The Badger record is now 14-10-3, including 11-9-1 in conference play. Wisconsin is tied for third, one point ahead of the Buckeyes. Carolyne Prevost, Brianna Decker, Jasmine Giles and Brooke Ammerman scored Wisconsin goals. The two teams wrap up the series with a 2 p.m. game today in Columbus.
