Brewers' first baseman Prince Fielder says he's in no hurry to negotiate a new contract -- and he wants to stay in Milwaukee as long as possible.
The 25-year-old Fielder becomes a free agent after two more seasons. And his current two-year, 18-and-a-half million dollar deal expires after this year. Some pundits assume he'll be off to the Yankees or some other big-money team after 2011, if the Brewers don't get something in a trade first. But at the "Brewers on Deck" event yesterday, Fielder said he wants to play out his current contract before he worries about the future. He says his family is happy, and he loves Milwaukee -- and that's what's most important.
Fielder tied for the Major League lead with 141 R-B-I's last season, while hitting .299 with 46 homers.
