The owners of the Cenex gas station and store in Ellsworth say they like their present location and plan on staying there.
Consolidated Energy Cooperative of Hudson, which owns the store says that there was discussion about moving from their current location, which is right in front of the Ellsworth Cooperative Creamery in lieu of plans by the Creamer to expand at their current location. Such plans were brought up at this month's Ellsworth Village Board meeting
The co-op owns a vacant lot just a few hundred feet down the road to the east on highways 10 and 63 at the eastern entrance to town.
However, the co-op board has decided to stick with their current location according to general manager David Crosby.
"Moving down the road would require us to get right-of-ways from the state to the highway that I don't think we'll get," Crosby said. "We get a lot of our business from people coming and going from the Creamery and we're excited about changes being made to improve Morse Rd towards the Deiss-Nugent facility. We want to be part of this economic hub."
