MILWAUKEE - Major league baseball teams usually win arbitration cases, but rarely does a player take a pay cut. For the first time in a dozen years the Milwaukee Brewers have had a player go to salary arbitration. Corey Hart won.

The Brewers outfielder was awarded nearly a 50 percent increase in pay, from three and a quarter million dollars a season to 4-point-8 million. Hart got the bigger raise despite a subpar performance in 2009 that saw him hit .260 with a dozen home runs and 48 runs batted in.

Owners have won 280 arbitration cases and lost 208 since the process started in 1974.
