Ellsworth's 13 sectional qualifiers make up nearly the entire group of sectional qualifiers from Pierce County after Saturday's WIAA regional wrestling meets.
The Panthers will send 13 wrestlers on to next Saturday's Division 2 Individual sectional meet at Somerset. They will also head to Amery Tuesday night as a team for the D-2 team sectional. The Panthers face Neillsville in the semifinals at 6 p.m. while Amery takes on Maple Northwestern in the other semifinals. Northwestern and Neillsville both survived close regional contests while Ellsworth and Amery easily won their regionals.
EHS amassed 290 points in the regional meet at West Salem. Runner-up West Salem-Bangor had 185.5 points. Ellsworth will have wrestlers in all but one weight class. Winning regional titles were Sam Huppert at 119, Roarke Langer at 125, D.J. Yarwood at 130, Zac Reister at 140, Levi Kuesel at 145, Tanner Eggenberger at 152, Noah McLay at 160 and Parker Hines at 171.
