Badger women's hockey beats Minnesota in OT; Badger men lose

Overtime became necessary when Minnesota scored a game-tying goal with just 17 seconds left in regulation. Minnesota had scored the first two goals of the game, but Wisconsin came back to lead 3-2 on scores by Brooke Ammerman, Jasmine Giles -- then Giles again. Wisconsin's record improves to 18-12-3, including 15-12-1 in the WCHA. The loss drops Minnesota into a tie for the conference lead.

The Wisconsin men's hockey team out-shot St. Cloud State 38-24, but Huskies found the range much more often. St. Cloud State ended the Badgers three-game winning streak with a 5-1 victory on Kohl Center ice. Derek Stepan had Wisconsin's only goal of the game early in the second period to make the score 2-1. It was all Huskies after that. Wisconsin's record is 18-8-4, including 13-7-3 in WCHA action after the loss. The win lets the Huskies stay a single point behind conference-leading Denver in the standings.
