Gophers men's hoops routs Indiana, picking up steam

MINNEAPOLIS - Lawrence Westbrook scored 20 points as the Minnesota Golden Gophers defeated the Indiana Hoosiers, 81-58, in Big Ten action at Williams Arena.
Damian Johnson scored 16 points and grabbed 10 rebounds for the Golden Gophers (16-10, 7-7 Big Ten). Ralph Sampson III added 11 points and eight rebounds.
Devan Dumes scored 20 points to pace Indiana (9-17, 3-11). Verdell Jones III and Jeremiah Rivers added 10 points each in defeat.
Minnesota led 44-25 at halftime after shooting 18-of-31 from the floor in the opening 20 minutes. The Hoosiers were just 7-of-25 in that stanza.
The Golden Gophers stayed hot after halftime, shooting 13-of-25 from the floor to seal the win.
Indiana was just 6-of-21 for the evening from outside the arc.
