Late goal helps Badgers edge Gophers 3-2

MINNEAPOLIS - The Wisconsin men's hockey team clinches second place in the WCHA standings by edging Minnesota 3-2 Friday. It was the fourth win in a row for the Badgers.
Wisconsin has a 22-8-4 record, including 17-7-3 in conference play. The Badgers will do no worse than second in the WCHA while the Golden Gophers are assured a losing record in the league.
Freshman forward Craig Smith had two of the team's three goals. Another freshman, defenseman Justin Schultz, scored the other Wisconsin goal. The Golden Gophers and Badgers close out the regular season Sunday with a 1 p.m. game.
