Wisconsin rips Illini in re-match 72-57, will play again

CHAMPAIGN, Ill. - The Wisconsin men's basketball team will play Illinois for a second straight time on Friday afternoon. They'll meet at the Big Ten Tournament in Indianapolis, after the Badgers beat the Illini 72-57 yesterday in their regular season finale at Assembly Hall.
Both teams earned first-round byes in the league tourney. Wisconsin got the fourth seed, and Illinois is fifth. Yesterday, the Badgers overcame foul trouble by starters Jon Leuer and Trevon Hughes to win their fourth straight contest. The Badgers led by 16 points midway through the second half.
The Illini rallied back, but could get no closer than five. Sophomore Jordan Taylor led the Badgers with 20 points, eight rebounds, and three assists. Mike Tisdale had 16 for Illinois, which has now lost three straight and five-of-its-last-six. Illinois is now 10-8 in the conference and 18-13 overall. 15th-ranked Wisconsin improved to 13-5 in the league, and 23-7 overall.
