VALPARAISO, Ind. - The UW-Milwaukee women's basketball team won their Horizon League tournament opener last night, 71-to-57 at Valparaiso.
Four Panthers scored in double figures, led by Ashley Imperiale with 18. Milwaukee shot 50-percent on the night to just 33-percent for Valpo. The Panthers were up by 11 at the half. Valparaiso got to within six, but Milwaukee then had runs of 11-0 and 11-3 to put the game out of reach. Whitney Farris scored 15 for Valparaiso, which ended its season at 9-and-21.
UWM improved to 12-18 overall – and they’ll play at top-seeded UW-Green Bay in the quarter-finals tomorrow night.
