MADISON - Seven Wisconsin football seniors showed their stuff to about 10 scouts at the Badgers’ annual Pro Day in Madison in advance of next month’s NFL Draft.
The crowd of on-lookers was down from recent years, mainly because other large schools around the country also had their pro-days yesterday. U-W Whitewater kicker Jeff Schebler also took part – but he had to wait until all the Badger seniors did their various drills.
A half-dozen NFL representatives stayed around to watch him, including scouts from the Green Bay Packers, Indianapolis, Houston, and Baltimore. Schebler holds the NCAA scoring record for all divisions with 470 career points. He made almost 80-percent of his field-goal attempts at Whitewater. But one of the big questions among the scouts was if Schebler is strong enough to kick off in the NFL. He may not get drafted, but he hopes to get invited to a training camp.
The Badgers who auditioned yesterday were tight end Garrett Graham, tight end Mickey Turner, defensive tackles Jeff Stehle and Dan Moore, fullback Jae McFadden, and safety Chris Maragos. Defensive end O’Brien Schofield attended, but did not take part after injuring a knee at the Senior Bowl in January.
